Of course, by further specialization, a gynecologist can achieve even higher salary rates.   Gynecologists with obstetrics, gynecologic oncology, obstetrics, ultrasonography, and reproductive endocrinology expertise tend to make higher than average wages.

In some parts of California, gynecologists are paid close to the top rates.  For instance, in
Fresno, California, the average salary is $230,000/year.  In San Jose, the average is $211,810/year.  In Los Angeles, the average gynecology salary is $223,910/year.

Highest Gynecologist Salary Rates

The highest average gynecologist salaries have been reported from Barnstable Town, MA, Reading, PA, Orlando-Kissimmee, FL and Midland, TX.  It is not uncommon to hear of an OB-GYN who earns in excess of $450,000/year.

Incredibly, Payscale reports that some Obstetrician-Gynecologists in Illinois make as little as $36,000/year!  Fortunately, they also report the normal gynecologist salary range is between $77,000 and $315,000/year.

Based on the public health system in place in Canada, gynecologists in Canada quickly come up to the maximum income earnable by physicians.  So generally speaking, new gynecologists may start out earning $40,000/year, but will quickly become aware of the income limitations put in place by Canadian laws.
